As the sun begins to sink over the Pacific and El Arco stands out against the bay of Cabo San Lucas, it is the perfect time to enjoy The Rooftop at The Cape, a Thompson Hotel, perched at the highest point of the hotel and designed for lingering a little longer.
The drinks menu moves between reimagined classics, signature cocktails, and alcohol-free options. Highlights include the Dirty Margarita, The Cape, Soft Horizon, Mexican Candy, and Rosé Cloud. To accompany them, the kitchen offers dishes designed for sharing: regional cheeses and charcuterie, ceviches, sliders, skewers, seafood specialties, and desserts that lend themselves to a long, leisurely afternoon—one where no one is quite sure when it should come to an end.
Thursdays offer another reason to stay. From 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., Vinyl Selector makes music part of the experience, allowing guests to choose the next record to be played throughout the evening. The concept brings back the ritual of listening to an album on vinyl, set against an atmosphere where disco, funk, house, and various edits accompany the changing light and the transition from afternoon into night.
More than simply coming for the photograph of El Arco—though the view certainly deserves it—the terrace is one of those stops that can give a trip to Los Cabos a different rhythm. Stop by before dinner for a cocktail, take a break after a day at the beach, or make it the meeting point for a celebration. The idea is simple: arrive while there is still sunlight, order something to drink, and let the afternoon decide how long you stay.
The Rooftop at The Cape is open Monday through Thursday and Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Children are welcome from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.; after that, the space is reserved for adults. Groups of more than six guests are subject to a minimum spend.
