National Symphony Orchestra

The National Symphony Orchestra, directed by Ludwig Carrasco, is one of the main pillars of classical music in Mexico. Founded in 1928, it plays a crucial role in promoting symphonic music both nationally and internationally.

The orchestra frequently performs at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, one of the most iconic theaters in Latin America. For its upcoming season, the OSN will offer a repertoire featuring works by Silvestre Revueltas, Andrea Chamizo, and Gustav Mahler, performing on Fridays and Sundays throughout December.

The Museo de Arte Popular

(Museum of Popular Art) is a key institution in Mexico City dedicated to preserving Mexican folk art. It showcases over 3,000 works donated by artisans, displayed in its permanent galleries, which include exhibits on pottery, alfeñique (sugar art), toys, maque (lacquerware), masks, jewelry, paper crafts, saddlery, textiles, and glass.

The museum is known for its temporary exhibitions that highlight artisans from across the country, as well as its annual competition of monumental alebrijes (brightly colored Mexican folk art sculptures) and piñatas, typically showcased in the final months of the year. The museum is housed in a unique Art Deco building.

Templo Mayor Museum

Templo Mayor Museum, which opened in 1987, was established as a result of the archaeological excavations conducted by the Templo Mayor Project between 1978 and 1982. These excavations uncovered over 7,000 artifacts, as well as the remains of the Templo Mayor of Tenochtitlan and surrounding structures.

Today, the museum exhibits these findings alongside the archaeological site itself. The museum is divided into two main sections: the first four rooms are dedicated to Huitzilopochtli, and the next four to Tláloc. A standout piece in the museum is the polychrome relief of Tlaltecuhtli, the Earth goddess, which is the largest Mexica sculpture ever discovered. In addition to permanent exhibits, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions.

Los Cabos International Film Festival: Film Encounters

From December 4 to 8, Los Cabos will become the epicenter of cinema with a unique program, unmissable events and a tribute to Mexican cinema.

This year the Los Cabos International Film Festival expands its horizons and will be presented at Cinemex Puerto Paraíso, Cabo San Lucas, in addition to having activities in San José del Cabo, which is integrated as a new venue.

Its inaugural function will be held at Crania, a space located in the middle of nature, while the closing will be held at the Puerto Los Cabos Sculpture Garden. In addition, this year there will be a Movie Night at the Hotel El Ganzo, with the exclusive screening of “Limonov: The Ballad of Eddie”, by Kirill Serebrennikov.

The Los Cabos International Film Festival will place special emphasis on Mexican cinematography through “Encuadres Mexicanos”, a program made in Mexico and/or in co-production with other industries in Latin America, Europe and the United States.
