Located in the heart of the Bajío, Guanajuato is one of the most fascinating states in Mexico. Its blend of charming colonial cities, magical towns (pueblos mágicos), historic landmarks, and outstanding culinary offerings—combined with excellent connectivity to the country’s Central and western regions—makes it a must-visit destination for travelers from around the world.

Recently, however, a new attraction has emerged and captured the attention of sophisticated travelers, food enthusiasts, and seekers of unique sensory experiences: wine tourism.

Thanks to the remarkable growth of its wine industry since the early 2000s, Guanajuato became Mexico’s fourth-largest wine producer in 2025. Today, visitors can explore 82 vineyards, 31 wineries, and 27 wine-tourism properties, primarily distributed across twelve of the state’s most important municipalities.

This flourishing industry has given rise to the Harvest Festivals (Fiestas de la Vendimia), one of the most anticipated seasons of the year in the Bajío. In 2026, the celebration will feature 15 events taking place from August 1 to October 18 at established wineries and exciting new venues across four municipalities: eight events in Dolores Hidalgo, five in San Miguel de Allende, one in San Felipe, and one in Silao. Organizers expect approximately 17,000 visitors throughout the season.

If you don’t want to miss this exciting experience in Guanajuato—featuring guided vineyard tours, specialized wine tastings, mixology classes, and immersive activities such as the traditional grape stomping—here is the official calendar so you can choose your favorite venue and enjoy the best of wine culture with family and friends in the beautiful state of Guanajuato.
