Campos Elíseos, in the heart of Polanco, is one of the most beautiful and sought-after streets in Mexico City. There, at number 76, surrounded by trees and away from the noise, a group of visionary travelers has revitalized a majestic mansion nearly one hundred years old to bring Orchid House Mexico City to life—a new hospitality concept that combines the warmth of a home with the luxury and comfort of a boutique property. It is also part of a charming collection of house-hotels from the OH group, located within Mexico City (in Coyoacán), Tulum, La Paz, and soon in Puerto Escondido.
Orchid House Mexico City features only nine rooms (divided into five categories), elegantly designed to offer a refined and highly intimate experience—what its creators call “The Art of Quiet Luxury.” They are perfect for rest and relaxation, but also for connecting directly with one of the safest and most sophisticated neighborhoods in Mexico City, filled with tree-lined streets, galleries, restaurants, and internationally renowned boutiques. Guests can also enjoy curated tours and true explorations—designed by experts—that allow them to discover the capital’s most iconic attractions and hidden gems, as well as nearby destinations such as Hidalgo, Puebla, Morelos, and the State of Mexico.
Why do we love it?
Orchid House Mexico City stands out for its honest philosophy of hospitality, which, within a beautifully preserved historic building, achieves the perfect balance between the warmth of a family home and the sophistication of a boutique retreat. It is located on one of the most beautiful streets in the city, just a short walk from Polanco’s best restaurants, bars, and cafés, as well as iconic attractions such as the National Museum of Anthropology (home to the legendary Sun Stone) and Chapultepec Forest, where Latin America’s only castle rises above the treetops.
Among its rooms, the Master Suite was our favorite, featuring a queen-size bed, a spacious bathroom with a bathtub, and a small balcony overlooking Campos Elíseos and its surroundings. On full-moon nights, this corner becomes the perfect setting for a romantic candlelit dinner with your partner.
When it comes to gastronomy, Orchid House Mexico City surprised us with Aura, its in-house restaurant, which invites guests to enjoy original and delicious culinary proposals, including energizing breakfasts, outstanding brunches, and exquisite pizzas that are a hit at any time of day.
Finally, the property captivated us with the building’s own architecture, which has been designated a historic monument by INBAL and therefore has not undergone dramatic alterations. Instead, its original spaces have been respectfully preserved and elegantly decorated with furniture, artwork, and crafts that evoke Mexico’s cultural richness — many of which are also available for purchase. This gives Orchid House Mexico City the feel of a cultural home as well: a true hospitality gem that national and international travelers should not miss on their next visit to Mexico City.
