Chihuahua City once again brings together its wine industry for the fifth edition of Vinorte 2026, a festival that has become one of northern Mexico’s key showcases for wine production. The event will take place on Saturday, June 6 at the Quinta Carolina Cultural Center, a venue that connects the state’s history with its contemporary cultural life.
Located in the northern part of the city, the site was originally a country estate built by Don Luis Terrazas for his wife Carolina Culty in the 19th century. After decades of abandonment, it was restored and reopened as a cultural center in 2016. Today, it serves as a gathering point for artistic programming and events that engage with both historical memory and present-day cultural activity.
Vinorte is organized by Sistema Producto Vid Chihuahua A.C. and brings together more than 20 wineries from across the state. In a single day, producers, sommeliers, winemakers, and visitors share a space centered on an industry that has steadily grown and is now positioning itself within Mexico’s emerging wine tourism map.
The festival is structured across multiple experiences. The wine exhibition offers direct tastings and sales of labels produced in Chihuahua. Guided tastings and masterclasses provide a more technical reading of local wine, from vineyard practices to winemaking decisions that shape its profile. A food pavilion integrates regional cuisine designed for pairing, while live music and artistic interventions accompany the experience without separating it from its production context.
The growth of viticulture in Chihuahua is closely linked to its geographic conditions. High altitude, extreme climate, and mineral-rich soils from desert and mountain regions produce wines with distinctive characteristics that are difficult to replicate elsewhere. For local producers, the festival functions as a platform where these differences are presented not as exceptions, but as identity.
Beyond tasting, Vinorte offers a reading of the territory itself. Participating wineries range from small family operations to established projects with national reach. For international visitors, the festival provides insight into how a region traditionally associated with other industries has developed a parallel and expanding wine culture.
The event also forms part of a broader cultural tourism agenda in the state. Nearby natural sites such as the Nombre de Dios Caves extend the visitor experience, linking wine with geology, landscape, and regional history.
Vinorte 2026 will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Tickets are available through the official Startickets México platform and at authorized sales points in Chihuahua City.
