In vibrant Punta Zicatela, where the sea dictates the rhythm of life, Hotel Humano stands as an ode to simplicity and communion with nature. Created by architect Jorge Hernández de la Garza together with Plantea Estudio for Grupo Habita, this serene refuge celebrates the essence of surfing, Oaxacan culture, and the warmth of handmade craftsmanship.
Here, the architecture does not seek to dominate the landscape, but rather to blend into it. Exposed concrete, white clay, ceramics, and tropical woods make up an honest palette, where each texture breathes the identity of the coast. The clay lattices let the light in as if the sun were playing with the shadows, drawing its own time on the walls.
The hotel has 39 rooms, eight of which are suites, arranged around a central courtyard with a pool that acts as the heart of the complex. The interiors, furnished with pieces made by local artisans and accented with wine-colored ceramics, reveal a quiet, intimate luxury. Illustrations by artist Lucio Muniain provide a visual narrative that converses with the territory.
The double-height lobby, with its bar and open areas, invites guests to take off their shoes and let themselves be carried away by the breeze. Outside, a spa surrounded by vegetation and a pool bistro blend in with the tropical life of the place. In the kitchen, chefs Saúl Carranza and Marion Chateau reinterpret the flavors of the Pacific with honesty and freshness.
Hotel Humano has been recognized for its
sensitive and sustainable design, a space
where luxury is measured in the texture of
clay, the shade of the sun, and the serenity
that only the sea can offer.
